in syllabl, every puzzle is built around a fixed 3-letter string that must appear in all of your
answers. the puzzle has six levels, and each one gives you two constraints:
placement rule — where the string must appear in your word (beginning, end, both, or
somewhere in the middle).
syllable count — how many syllables the word must contain.
you must find a word that satisfies both conditions to move to the next level. you can guess as many
times as you need — no time limits, no penalties — but your score will only climb based on word frequency.
the goal is to get your score as high as possible for each puzzle. rarer words = more points (5 for the rarest).
think creatively, avoid common words, and aim for linguistic obscurity.

about
syllabl is a vocabulary-based word puzzle that challenges players to think beyond common answers,
requiring players to balance word structure with linguistic creativity.
behind the scenes, syllabl leverages the Merriam-Webster Collegiate API to
determine syllable count and parse syllable structure, and the Datamuse API, which provides word
frequency data for scoring. the game is built entirely with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and is designed to be
lightweight, fast, and mobile-friendly.
syllabl is a solo-built project made with a love for language, challenge, and whimsy.
